Several times we have used this English word "Kid" to refer to our own children. We keep repeating this word even while knowing a kid actually refers to a young goat. Why then do humans take pleasure in calling their young children kids and not babies or any other befitting name? The story goes that because a he-goat has a goatee it wears about as it matures, its young was named a kid. In the same manner because humans also interestingly sometimes grow goatees, they look so much as he goat with a goatee that it became necessary for children sired by men with goatees to be called kids. Today, even men without goatees have no problems calling their own children Kids.
