I’ve always wondered about this, where did bobby pins actually get their name? This type of trivia has always fascinated me. Apparently in seventeenth-century France, the hair style needed so people were able to wear the huge wigs that were very popular then, people had to have their hair cut in a short curled style that is known as a bobbed hair style.
In order to keep the hair curled under, they would use hairpins to keep the hair in place. Thus naming the pins “bobbing” pins. But later they have been known to change the name to bobby pins. So that is how the hairpins were named Bobby Pins.
