Every year in June I make a trip down to the Austin area. While there I photograph a ton of incredible creatures. One of my favorite insect to take pictures of are the Pipevine Swalowtail Caterpillars. These little caterpillars are very unique. They come in two phases, a red phase and a black phase. These are some macro pictures and videos I took of some Pipevine Swallowtail Caterpillars and also a picture of the adult butterfly. I took these photographs and video on a Canon 5D Mark II camera body and a Sigma 180mm macro lens. This is my favorite lens out of all of my lens because it takes really great shots and I can get in pretty close to small insects.

The picture below shows a Pipevine Swallowtail Caterpillar climbing on a tree limb.

I took this photograph of a Pipevine Swallowtail Caterpillar on a Thistle. This is another picture of a Pipevine Swallowtail Caterpillar This is the adult butterfly
