Homemade Dishwasher Detergent Cubes

I love Do It Yourself (DIY) things made fro scratch. Anything to save a few cents here and there.

Today I came across this great and simple recipe for making your own dishwasher cubes that really work as well as the more expensive store bought kind.

1 Cup Borax 1 Cup Washing Soda 1/4 Cup Epsom Salt Lemon Juice 2 empty ice cube trays

In a bowl, mix all the powders together real well. Take 1 cup of the powder and put it into a separate bowl. Add 4 tablespoons of lemon juice to the one cup of powder, and mix to wet the powder, but not to make it soaking wet, just sticky. The lemon juice will foam when it hits the powder, but that is OK. Place portions of the wet mixture into each section of the ice cube tray and pat down each section. Repete process with 2nd cup of powder. Place the filed ice cube trays on a sunny window sill to get lots of sun and dry quicker. Leave overnight so cubes are completely dry. Flip tray over to knock cubes out.

And there you have it! Another simple DIY recipe to help you save $$$ and have sparkling clean dishes!
