Hi everyone i just want to share our research regarding on the effect of cashew nuts in lowering your blood pressure. We all knew that most of the people here on earth have HYPERTENSION so we decided to look for an adjunct therapy for decreasing the blood pressure ^^
Thirty (30) grams of cashew nuts use to feed the participants was prepared by the researchers thru roasting the cashew nuts in “pugon”(oven) within twenty (20) minutes until it turns golden brown in color.
Although the study has various limitations, it was significant that researchers focused on the main physiologic problems present among the respondent which leads to the researchers’ conclusion that male and female prehypertensive and hypertensive adults ages 30-70 years old are more likely to manifest decrease in systolic and diastolic blood pressure, two and a half hours (2 1/2) after eating cashew nuts. It also concluded that reduction of blood pressure is not only due to magnesium which is necessary in modulating vascular tone and stimulating nitric oxide which helps in relaxing and dilating blood vessels but also due to linoleic acid that strengthen the blood vessels, making them less susceptible to blockages. Oleic acid also contributes in lowering blood pressure by elevating High Density Lipoprotein (HDL) concentration which vitally improves blood lipid profile and lowers the risk of plaque formation.
Aim: To measure the clinical significance of cashew nuts as an adjunct therapy in lowering blood pressure among male and female prehypertensive and hypertensive adults, to help the people in the community and hospitals.
Background: Cashew nuts were first introduced by in the 16th century. The cashew nut contains protein and high levels of the essential minerals iron, magnesium, phosphorus, zinc, copper and manganese, that are used as a health solutions and healthy diets (Meyers, 2009). Because of high mortality of prehypertension and hypertension in the Philippines, the researchers decided to study the effectiveness of cashew nuts in lowering blood pressure.
Methods: The researchers have decided to use the traditional, positivist scientific method, in quantitative research paradigm. It gathers empirical evidence and numeric information which is the systolic and diastolic blood pressure that is measured through blood pressure apparatus and analyzed with statistical procedures. It uses True Experimental Research Design. The type of non-probability sampling used is purposive or judgmental. Respondents are selected through non-random method.
Results: The study shows that the manipulative group, a total of twenty respondents, shows 100% decrease in the systolic and diastolic blood pressure both males and females after eating cashew nuts.
Conclusion: The researchers conclude that male and female prehypertensive and hypertensive adults ages 30-70 years old are more likely to manifest decrease in blood pressure, two and a half hours (2 1/2) after eating cashew nuts. And also blood pressure can be reduced by eating cashew nuts because of its components, such as magnesium, linoleic acid, and oleic acid. So that cashew nuts can be used as an adjunct therapy for prehypertension and hypertension.
