Everyone in my household seems to be on a different type of diet at different times. No matter what style of eating we are following, there is always a craving for a sweet snack. When I saw the Atkins Chocolate Peanut Candies on the store shelf, I purchased a box immediately.

Just by looking at the front of the box, there is no mistaking that these candies are modeled after M&M's. Inside there are five individual packages, each of which contains about twenty colorful candies with a hard shell surrounding a chocolate covered peanut. These taste just like real peanut M&Ms and look just like them, except that these do not have any white letters printed on them.

Each bag contains 150 calories, 11 grams of fat, no cholesterol, 4 grams of protein and 17 grams of carbohydrates, including 2 grams of fiber and 14 grams of sugar alcohols. For those counting carbs, this translates to 1 gram of net carbs in each package. There are zero grams of sugar in these candies as it is replaced by maltitol, a sugar alcohol, which sometimes affect people's digestive systems adversely, though my family has no tummy issues from ingesting them. This product contains peanuts and soy, and is manufactured in a facility that uses other tree nuts and wheat products.
These Atkins Endulge candies are labeled a "Treat" as opposed to a meal or a snack, and they probably should be eaten in moderation, but if you are trying to cut back on sugar or on a low-carb diet these are a good substitute for M&M candies. I like the fact that they are individually packaged to helps control portion sizes.

I will definitely be buying the Atkins Chocolate Peanut Candies (and the non-peanut version as well) on a regular basis so that when the chocolate craving hits, these will be available.
