The Costco Kirkland Signature Dental Chews plus Glucosamine & Omega 3 and 6 Fatty Acids were met with mixed reviews.
The Dental Chews are approximately 3” at the widest point and made into a shape (cross) that discourages gulping and swallowing very large pieces, therefore lessening the chance of choking. The Chews are packaged in a plastic tub (Net Wt. 1.45 lbs.) which can be resealed to retain freshness. I chose the 30 chicken flavored dog chews.
The added Glucosamine promotes healthy joint function; and the Omega 3 and 6 Fatty Acids help maintain a shiny coat and healthy skin. The Chews are easy to digest, low calorie and gluten free.

This product is meant for intermittent or supplemental feeding only.
**Warning: Feed Dental Chews to your dog after the animal has eaten to reduce the possibility of gastrointestinal upset. Use Dental Chews with caution for dogs that have a history of clotting disorders, diabetes, metabolic disorders associated with hyperglycemia, urinary tract stones and allergies to shellfish.
Feed the appropriate amount of treats daily for your dog’s weight range. Always offer sufficient water when giving your dog treats or food. Makes sure your dog chews the treat completely as gulping any item can be harmful to your dog. They are not recommended for dogs with a history of gulping, choking or poor chewing capability. These chews are not intended to be a complete food. Always consult with your veterinarian about the proper nutrition for your dog.
The warnings and special instructions remind me of the information sheets included with prescription medications. I wouldn’t buy these chews again just for that reason; but there are other reasons as well. I used these Dental Chews as a treat only.
As a supplement, based on my dogs’ weight, they would each need 1-1/2 Chews per day. I gave them one Chew once or twice a week. It is much too expensive to hand out 3 per day!
My dogs have a routine with a treat that is unusual and new. Unless it’s something like a sweet potato fry that they will gobble up without the inspection and routine, they are uncertain with some treats and carry them around for a day or two. Sometimes I find that my little girl has hidden one under my computer table.
The Dental Chews were met with mixed reviews. My female dog finally ate hers on the second day and then ate the one that my male dog had abandoned.
The verdict was one paw up and one paw down; but I will not be purchasing these Dental Chews again.
The Dental Chews carry the Kirkland Signature guarantee to meet or exceed the quality of the leading national brands or your money will be refunded.
