Before I start the review, you can find all of Kevin Bueltmann’s music on his website: www.waysofpraise.com . The album of his I will be reviewing is, “Ways of Praise.” The album is 10 songs, so while I have listened to it all, I won’t be commenting on each indivual song…. I’ll be reviewing the album as a whole. The artist also agreed to an interview, which I will get to you as soon as possible.
As you can guess by the title, this album is all praise and worship songs, but they’re done in a rock style. I love how he starts the album, with no wasted time before he gets to that rock sound. The guitar work is excellent.
Kevin’s vocals are solid, kind of reminds me of a Chris Tomlin/Chris Rice style. His lyrics are also very clear you can tell what every word is… Which I’ll be honest is important for an unknown Christian artist, if I don’t know you, I want to know what you’re saying to me and Kevin did a great job with that. Not only are the lyrics clear, they’re very well written and really poetic. His arrangements are well done, and very well played instrumentally. There are parts where you can tell his vocals may need a bit more development… but he’ll get there in time. I hope he performs at a church, because this would be quite the gift on Sunday mornings.
There is a lot of talent here, which makes it hard for me to choose a favorite track on this album. If you love praise and worship music like I do, then this album is worth buying on his website. But if you like Contemporary Christian Rock, then this album is also for you.
I’m trying to find something I can criticize, but I’m not finding anything lol. It’s different, but also has a lot similar to what’s popular in Christian music… His lyrics aren’t watered down though it’s straight praise and worship, which I love. One of his songs is a morning prayer, another one is an evening prayer… So, it’s like praise to get you through the day. I really like the sound of Evening Prayer; it’s a calm relaxing sound, which complements the lyrics. The last song is based off of 2 Timothy 4:13, a nice way to end the album in saying, “to Him be the glory forever and ever, a-men!” Overall, I really think this album will bring God glory, great job by Kevin and I hope you all will check it out!
I wish I could say more about this album, maybe have some negative things to say… but I’ve got nothing. All I can say is check it out, I think you’ll love it and stay tuned for the interview!
