Everyone has to deal with the vicissitudes of life.
Dictionary.com defines "vicissitudes" as, "a change or variation occurring in the course of something." "Interchange or alternation, as of states or things." "Vicissitudes, successive, alternating, or changing phases or conditions, as of life or fortune; ups and downs; highs and lows."
Life's lessons and our sojourn through this existence, starts with perseverance. Grace steps in to put you back on the right track. Hindsight is the emotional mechanism used that, hopefully, keeps us from repeating past mistakes.
Most of us are familiar with the adage, "if it doesn't kill you, it will make you stronger." That's one of those statements that actually goes without saying because many of the hard lessons we encounter in life won't cause our immediate demise, but we can certainly learn from them.
There are a plethora of adverse events that can lead to an untimely transition if we do not heed the inherent lesson embedded in our missteps.
All of the vicissitudes that occur in our lives offer guidance, messages, and warnings. Keep this in mind and that cross you bear, won't be so heavy. The image to the right is a favorite mine because it says, no matter what, I'll never stop fighting. The picture epitomizes perseverance in every way. The fact that the frog has taken control of the situation, is a metaphor for what must happen in our lives; we must take control of the challenges that we face.
No matter how dire the predicament we find ourselves, where there is a will, there most definitely is a way.
