As I previously mentioned, at one end of Bicentennial Mall is the splash park. Beyond this is a map on the ground, a very large one, of the state of Tennessee. Visitors can walk on the map that is carved in the cement. I walked across and saw not only Nashville and Memphis, but the other cities, small and large. It shows county lines and waterways.
From this map, the best views of the Capitol Building can be seen. The Capitol sits on a large hill and is very picturesque. There are many steps to climb to the Capitol, and I have done this on past trips more than once. But, if one just wants to view the Capitol, the best place is from Bicentennial Mall. I did not climb the steps this time.
Also near the map is a railroad with a historical bridge that is lovely to look at.
