I love when people celebrate women's achievements. It's a very nice change!
Today, Google is honoring the memory of Lady Ada Augusta Lovelace, who would be 197 -- and certainly very pleased with the way +Technology has evolved!
Lovelace is known for two things. She was the daughter of Lord Byron and a remarkable mathematician.
She is also considered the world's first computer programmer for her work on Charles Babbage's Analytical Engine, a proposed mechanical general-purpose computer. (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Analytical_Engine)
Born on December 10, 1815, Lovelace died on November 27, 1852, at the age of 36. "Her lasting legacy as role model for girls and young women considering careers in technology is remembered on Ada Lovelace Day, which is dedicated to the celebration of the achievements of women in science and technology," says The Guardian (www.guardian.co.uk/technology/2012/dec/10/ada-lovelace-honoured-google-doodle)
