Maurits Cornelis Escher, better known as M.C. Escher was born June 17, 1898, and died March 27, 1972.
A Dutch graphic artist, his works included wood cuts, lithographs, and mezzotints.

My favorite lithograph is titled Relativity. I can follow the lines of this piece for hours, weeks and throughout the years. The first print was in December, 1953.
The architecture and placement of stairs, domed windows, people... are you inside our outside? Are you coming or going?
There is a sense of gravity but one doesn't know where the source of gravity lies. The three dimensional effect of the lithograph keeps the eyes moving.
With every viewing there seems to be something new - something I hadn't seen or noticed before - or something I rediscovered.
This is one piece I will never grow tired of looking at.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I.
