Downhill Gold Medal Skier Lindsey Vonn announced today that she won’t be defending her Olympic titled in Sochi after all. Vonn who blew out her knee last year and had to have major surgery to fix it, still had hopes of competing in these games.
However, earlier this year she had not one but two incidents occur with the fixed knee. First there was damaged to the knee that was suffered while she was in training back in November. Then while she was competing in France last month she sustained damage to the ACL of the knee, something else that needs surgery in order to fully be repaired. With these set backs the champion skier decided to give up on her dream of another Olympic Games and more Olympic Gold. Instead, she is now preparing for more surgery to repair her knee and will probably be out for the rest of the season.
