Hubby and I have a new favorite restaurant. The Farmers Family Restaurant may have only opened two weeks go in Knoxville, but its off to a good start. We got there at about 3:30 today so we would have time to try out the place before it got crowded. I'm glad that we had time. The food array is quite impressive. Equally positive is that the food quality was good to excellent on everything we tasted.

The vegetables taste fresh and are sourced through Son Shine Produce in Knoxville. The mashed potatoes tasted home made and had a few small lumps. There were collard greens, cream style corn, boiled yellow squash, creamed spinach, boiled potatoes, stewed tomatoes and okra, pintos and more.

Meat choices included a delicious pepper steak in au jus, fried chicken, tenders, fried catfish, baked chicken and imore. The salad bar was fresh, rolls were straight from the oven and the desserts ranged from cobblers to cake and frozen yogurt.

The adult price was $7.99 plus $1.99 for drinks. Service was more than you'd expect for a buffet. Plus, the place is spotless.

Farmers Family Restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It's at the corner of Kingston Pike and Walker Springs. Look for it in the shopping center with Sonic and Books-a-Million.
