Odd, Weird, Creepy, Strange But True Wedding Traditions And Superstition Around The Globe

When it comes to +wedding, there are a lot of beliefs and cultural +Traditions that must be done and followed. Whatever race or nationality you have, for sure, you got one or two wedding traditions that you will certainly say "very strange" or even "a bit odd" or "unusual".

At this +Bubblews post of mine, I will share with you what I call the world's most creepiest and ugliest wedding tradition ever known to mankind.

To all, this post is meant for information purposes only, not to question nor make fun of your very own wedding tradition. So without any more delay, here is my list.

+Zulu Weddings
Like many brides across the world, Zulu brides might start the day in a Western "white wedding" dress, but change into traditional tribal clothing after a church wedding. In a traditional ceremony, the groom's family slaughters a cow to welcome the bride. The bride places money inside the stomach of the cow to symbolize that she is now part of the family.

+India Weddings
This tradition doesn't reflect the over all view or tradition of Indian wedding. At some parts of India, women have been known to be forced to marry animals in India. Why? it is believed that ghosts can inhabit certain people of the living world. Most notably, girls who are born with a baby tooth already erupted through the gum and girls who are very ugly or have some facial dis-figuration are believed to be possessed by ghosts. The only way to exorcise the ghosts is for the girl to marry an animal, typically a goat or dog.

+Africa Weddings
At some parts of Africa, specifically at Mauritania, women are forced to eat until they hit the desired size or weight to marry. Imagine being as young as 5 and already your parents are sending you off to a fat farm where you are forced to eat too much food until you vomit. The practice is called Leblouh and is mandated in these parts of the world so that women will be considered attractive to their future mates. Men on this side of the globe want women fat; the fatter the better.

+Malaysia Weddings
In Malaysian tradition, groom and bride are locked inside their room or house for 72 hours straight without using the bathroom (controlling the pee and poo is a must learn art for them). The Tidong people are so serious about the ritual that it has been going on for centuries. To be able to finish and fulfill the ritual and control the poo and pee, the couple is starved and given little water. What a painful tradition.

+Korea Weddings
Wedding for Koreans is really a sacred one and they do believe that wedding is a match made for life. Because of this strong belief, they include ducks (who mate for life) at their wedding procession. With this tradition, the groom would carry a gray goose and gander (who also mate for life) to his bride's house as a symbol of his fidelity.
