I just watched a music video by A Great Big World and Christina Aguilera called "Say Something." I love this song. I personally can relate to this in so many ways because I've lost so many loved ones in my life. The song is pretty much what the heart is saying when you have to leave someone you love. There are times when we have to make big relationship decisions and even though you may not want to, you have to leave your lover because it's the best for both of you. You may not want to leave and are willing to work things out but you just need that small gesture from your significant other to confirm that they are willing to as well.
Then there are other times that a loved one is dying and you are helpless to them. No one ever wants to watch or see a loved one die in a hospital bed but it happens. The song says "Say Something, I'm giving up on you," and it may sound mean or harsh but in all reality, when nothing else can be done, all you can do is give up. To me, this song takes me back to sad times in my life but it also gives me hope and remembrance of the times I shared with others that I've lost.
