Since I originally wrote this, just a couple of days ago, I have received TWO misdirected items of mail at my home ... one was a certified letter and the other a package from UPS. I had to take these items to different people on my street. It's ridiculous!

mailing gifts this time of year is always touchy. Wish I had a good alternative for you.

I don't usually mail packages but for things I get in the mail from UPS and FED-EX they always leave the package at the wrong house!! Thankfully it is family that lives there so we always get it but its frustrating we both have signs with our address. I have contacted both companies to complain and still the driver leaves the package at the wrong place. We have a covered porch and they do not.. lots of times my packages have gotten left out in the rain because of this. Makes me SOOOO mad!

If you send Fed- ex...take out the insurance on the amt it is worth...and have it that it has to be signed for by the name of who is suppose to receive, so if they do not get...Fed-Ex is responsible and will have to pay...that is what I do to get packages to my son 1800 miles away!! But thank goodness I have not had any problems.

That is terrible, sounds like gift cards would be the way to go!

I am also weary of sending gifts in the mail. I will most likely be sending gift cards instead.

That is interesting considering the Tom Hanks Movie at least I think it was that movie that made the fed ex is all that type movie. UPS I never have a problem with have received several packages the last couple of years and none not a one have ever been late. I am not home they know where to leave it. Of course I have a fence and a mean German Shepard to guard it except he is not all that mean unless you mess with my package lol

I always feel weary to send stuffs. In Asia it's a lot worse because we'd get 'robbed' meaning the mails just never got to us. Or if you send money in your card, the money would be gone. A friend of mine sent me some stuffs from Singapore and it never got to me at all when I was in Asia. In U.S, it took over a month to get to me when my friend shipped me some food back home. You're right. It gets somewhat discouraging. I plan to order something for my husband so I always try to check the site and read the reviews.

That is just awful and very frustrating. I haven't had any problems like that personally, but I know many packages were being left on doorsteps and stolen in my neighborhood. Is it expensive to send packages requesting a signature upon delivery?
