The #21 ranked South Carolina Gamecocks football team went to fist time SEC competitors Missouri Tigers, who are ranked #5 in the nation and undefeated. The Gamecocks came off of a loss last weekend to the Tennessee Vols in a huge upset. Their starting quarterback, Connor Shaw, suffered an injury to his knee and didn't seem like he would be playing at all against the Tigers this weekend.
The Missouri Tigers have been getting a lot of attention this year for going undefeated against highly ranked competitors... that is, until last night when the Gamecocks took the Tigers to a second overtime and Connor Shaw. Connor was able to get into the game in the second half and help rack up 17 points and lead the gamecocks to a win after a field goal put them up by 3 points. It was a huge win for the Gamecocks led by college super coach, Steve Spurrier.
It was a harsh environment that the Gamecocks had to go into. Coming off of a loss and going up against a top 5 team is hard enough, but coming in with your starting quarterback hurting is not good. The defense held the high powered Tigers under thirty points and were able to help lead the Gamecocks to another win. The win puts the Gamecocks just one behind the Missouri Tigers in the SEC East conference.
