My husband and I have a war going on in our kitchen each morning. He reaches for the Cheerios while I stick to my standard hot cereals. Usually I eat instant oatmeal, grits or cream of wheat.
Both of us insist that we are eating the healthier breakfast. I know that hot foods are better for breakfast and digest better than cold ones. He claims that cold cereals fill you up and provide sustained energy.
The calories and nutrition on the labels are about the same. Are we squabbling for the heck of it?
I personally do not like Cheerios because of the aftertaste and my gut just doesn't want to digest it properly. I love oatmeal because my mom always made it for me and the warm comforting feeling makes me happy.
