&Javaman74 As long as you stay well, you'll be OK...but you're right, it's a gamble.

&sandnsun - Yes, I understand what you mean about MA policies. I know it's a gamble, but right now I continue to be healthy, knocking on wood.

&MGray Sorry, but you are totally wrong. For several years now the government has realized that the MA plans are too costly and they have been seeking ways to eliminate them. This started long before Obamacare came into play. There is no provision that says Medicare will be defunded based on the ACA...in fact, the one has absolutely nothing to do with the other. In addition, MA plans are not Medicare. They are sponsored by Medicare and must meet certain guidelines, but they are actually private insurance companies who are running programs for which they get government subsidies. I have been researching all of this for quite some time, so what I'm saying here is based on fact, not hearsay.

&Javaman74 UHC is a good company, but if you are using them as an MA I can tell you they generally are not good to have, but none of them are. You cannot sign up for ACA if you are on Medicare . What is happening in FL has nothing to do with the ACA...it is all about what I wrote here...UHC is getting ready for the changes to come...and they will come. The MA programs are OK if you are healthy, but if you get sick, they are trouble. Good luck.

ACA is the cause. It is stated in the provision that the feds will no longer fund medicare once ACA is implemented. The cost now goes to the state or organizations like United.

Very interesting post. I have UHC in Washington. They have been very helpful. I was talking to them the other day and they helped me find a provider for cataract surgery. The one recommended by my doctor was trying to scam me. I wonder if a person on Medicare can sign up also for ACA. Oh boy, now I bet Fox news will find a way to turn this change in Florida on to the ACA as the cause.
