Recently the Portuguese government has acknowledged the discovery of a pyramid structurally similar to the ones found in Egypt. The catch? This pyramid is found at the bottom of the Atlantic ocean.

The pyramid is 40 meters (131 feet) below the surface of the water and is estimated to be 60 meters (197 feet) tall making it roughly half the size as the Pyramid of Khufu (also known as the great pyramid). The pyramid was originally discovered by Diocleciano Silva while on a recreational trip on his private yacht and has since been under investigation by the Portuguese navy.

Some archaeologists claim that the pyramid, which was found off the coast of the island Terceira, signifies the presence of human life in the area thousands of years before the Portuguese discovered the islands uninhibited in 1427. Various other archaeological findings in this area in recent years lends credence to this theory.

Various explanations have been given for the existence of a pyramid eerily similar to those found in Egypt being found at the bottom of the Atlantic ocean. The most popular of which are either that it is remnants from the lost, supposedly technologically advanced, city of Atlantis which has been rumored to have existed around the island of Terceira for quite some time. The second is a little more, unearthly, with some people blaming extraterrestrial life for this strange occurrence. What do you think? Aliens, Atlantians, or is there some other explanation for this phenomenon.
