&Chitiquita_Lita 17 years isn't exactly ancient history. :) But maybe I'm older than you.

Speaking as a recipient of food stamps, I definitely don't think that they should be cut. If they were to cut food stamps during a stalemate like this, there would be a lot of people that would go hungry and my family would be among those people. Plus, if they were to do that would they stop at just food stamps or would they also cut the government funding for food in schools and then more children would go hungry.

Food stamps and other assistance programs have never been cut with the government "shuts down" so why should they now? The only way they could would be if the present administration used that to strong arm the opposition into doing what it wants (Obamacare).

Most of the people I know who are on food stamps are able-bodied but lazy. Feed kids, yes. Feed those too lazy to make money-no.

Our country is in a mess. More and more people have lost jobs in this recession and there are people who have never needed this program who are now on it. It is not through any fault of theirs that the government has shut down. They still need to eat. I am really upset for families with small children that WIC offices are closing and those children may not be getting their food services. There are so many other areas that could be cut in my opinion. Don't take food away from the people who need help the most.

That is what I am thinking also my husband is cutting that now a days because of that shutdown that affects the entire United States.

Food assistance does not halt when the government plays it's shut-down game.
Which is good news for those families depending upon them.
