I was delighted to see an inspirational figure on the news this morning. A former Irish Army Elite Ranger who was on a trip to Nairobi and just happened to get caught up in the midst of the catastrophic circumstances we have all heard so much about. And did he run and hide? No, instead he choose to use his skills, with the help of another bystander, an ex British soldier, to save as many people as he could. And in typical Irish style, he modestly slipped back into the crowd afterwards, unsure of how he would take to the limelight.
This man is the definition of a hero, and one that doesn't do it for the glory. The man, who doesn't want his identity to be revealed, is someone that we should all look up to, today and every other day. A man from my home town, and just another one of the good people who makes life so great!
