BSNL is all prepared to come out with a huge recruitment drive for the selection of around 7000 Junior Telecom Operators (JTOs). If you are an engineering graduate having more than 50% aggregate marks and under 35 years of age, you should start preparing for the exam.
The last time when BSNL had recruited JTO was in 2009. After which they had planned for a recruitment drive in 2010, but unfortunately many issues came on the way. 2G scam shook the entire telecom sector in India – both public and private. Then the issue of switching and gear import created lots of problems for the company.
The loss of BSNL is mounting quarter after quarter since 2010. It had total accumulated loss of more than Rs. 10,000 Crore in 2012. The Government of India formed a committee to recommend measures to again make BSNL profitable. One of the many suggestions of that committee was severe cut in salary and pensions expenditure. In extension, the committee recommended to cut jobs and not to recruit new staffs. That was another blow for aspirants as the management decided to continue with outsourcing jobs and not recruiting permanent JTOs. As a matter of fact, 45% of BSNL operation cost constitutes salary and pension.
BSNL JTO Recruitment: 2013-14
